Get Technical! Behind the Curtain of Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Palace Theatre Manchester on 23 September 2025 at 2pm.

Global Creatures, Producer of Moulin Rouge! The Musical announces the first of its hugely successful Get Technical! Behind the Curtain of Moulin Rouge! The Musical on its World Tour will be launched in Manchester.

On Tuesday 23 September 2025 at 2pm, the Palace Theatre Manchester will open its doors to give anyone aspiring to a career in theatre a glimpse behind the curtain of the multi award-winning Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

Following on from popular events in London and across the globe, Get Technical! offers the chance to hear from members of the production’s backstage and technical teams, watch live on-stage demonstrations and learn more about what goes into the making of a musical Spectacular!

From wigs to wardrobe, and sound to stage management, the event aims to motivate and inspire young people to consider a career in backstage positions in the performing arts industry. Attendees will be shown how the different technical departments work together to create the production and be given a sneak peek of some of the stage secrets and magic behind the show.

Backstage and technical team members will also share stories from their own career journeys and give tips for getting into the industry.

“Backstage is where all the magic happens. Producers are constantly on the lookout for great crew and backstage company members,” explains producer Carmen Pavlovic.

“We’re after stage managers; lighting technicians; hair, wig and makeup artists; wardrobe assistants; set automation and mechanists to name a few. We’re thrilled to reach even more people with Get Technical as part of our World Tour. By launching Get Technical in Manchester, a creative and vibrant city, we hope young people will be inspired to consider the many potential career pathways into working in live theatre.”

Grace Cameron, Creative Learning Producer at the Palace Theatre & Opera House said: “The Palace Theatre & Opera House is incredibly passionate about providing young people in the Northwest with access to high quality theatre careers provision, and we’re extremely proud to be working on the delivery of this event with Global Creatures and Moulin Rouge! The Musical, who share that vision.

Too often, young people are unaware of the wide range of theatre careers available; however, there is a real demand across the industry for talent in backstage roles and Get Technical! is a spectacular opportunity to showcase these professionals and the vital work they do. We can’t wait to lift the curtain on technical roles for the benefit of our region and the future of the arts industry.”

Get Technical! is presented by Global Creatures in partnership with ATG Entertainment Creative Learning.

The Moulin Rouge of Paris, managed by Jean-Jacques Clerico (CEO), is a dazzling and spectacular universe, the symbol of the Parisian way of celebrating since 1889. Starting life as a popular cabaret and dance hall, the venue became an iconic music hall in the Roaring Twenties, and then a theatre where numerous famous French and international artists stepped out into the limelight. Today, the Moulin Rouge and its 60 artists present the Féerie revue show: two hours of amazement between cabaret and music hall styles where dance scenes and surprise acts intersperse – without forgetting the Moulin Rouge’s most emblematic dance, the French Cancan! Since its creation, the Moulin Rouge of Paris has always been an invitation to live and share all the emotions and effervescence of a unique party extravaganza. http://www.moulinrouge.fr/
